February 26, 2002, DALTON, GA The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) recently
donated several Green Label approved vacuum cleaners to Providence Ministries
in Dalton.
Roy Johnson, director of Providence Ministries said the donation was a wonderful
gift. "It was a real blessing. We don't often get appliances donated to us
that are in good working order. These vacuum cleaners are wonderful," he said.
Mr. Johnson said the vacuums will be used on a daily basis in the facility.
"We vacuum daily, and we needed good equipment," he said. "We are so grateful
for this donation."
The vacuum cleaners had been previously used in testing programs to determine
if they met CRI vacuum cleaner standards. To meet Green Label standards, vacuum
cleaners must remove soil effectively, keep dust in the vacuum and out of the
air and also keep carpet looking good.
CRI president Werner Braun said, "The vacuums donated to Providence Ministries
were practically new. They had only been used for testing purposes."
Mr. Braun commented, "Providence Ministries does wonderful work for the community
and we were pleased to be able to help them in this way."
The Carpet and Rug Institute is the national trade association for the carpet
and rug industry. CRI's members are manufacturers and suppliers providing over
90% of all carpet produced in the United States.
