January 31, 2002, LAS VEGAS, NV Today, the Carpet
and Rug Institute (CRI) is announcing the retirement of Murry G. Hall, a long-time
devoted employee. Mr. Hall served for many years in the operations of several
carpet manufacturers, and joined the Carpet Manufacturers of the West (CMAW)
in 1974 as its president. He served in that capacity until 1994 when CMAW merged
with CRI. From that time forward, Mr. Hall has performed the duties of liaison
for CRI with west coast carpet manufacturers. This involved monitoring governmental
issues, educational efforts, and keeping the west coast membership attuned to
all industry issues. Mike Derderian, President of Royalty Carpet Mills, remembered
the great work Mr. Hall accomplished in merging the west coast mills into the
Carpet and Rug Institute. Mr. Derderian said, Its not easy to say goodbye to
a true gentleman and a cornerstone in the carpet industry. He will truly be missed.

Werner Braun, president of CRI, stated, It is with great reluctance and poignancy
that we accept Murrays retirement. Murray has garnered a great respect among
industry players and long list of accomplishments throughout his many years
of service. He is known throughout the carpet industry as a kind, genteel, and
knowledgeable negotiator; one who has acted so often as a mediator between various
segments of the industry. He has also gone to bat frequently for his west coast
constituents and the entire industry. We wish Murray the very best retirement
possible, and hope that he will allow us to continue to tap his knowledge under
the title of Director Emeritus.
Mr. Hall commented, After over 50 happy years in the carpet and association
business, there is a degree of reluctance in leaving so many friends, particularly
in the West. However, I do look forward to spending additional time with my
family members, and to the other pleasant and rewarding experiences that I am
confident retirement will afford.
