May 17, 2001, DALTON, GA - The Seal of Approval Program initiated by the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) is being enhanced and updated in response to increased interest from installation contractors and cleaning professionals. The operation of the program, testing, and training activities have been transferred to Dalton State College. CRI will continue to work with the program to assure its success in both the installation and maintenance areas.

The Seal of Approval Board responsibilities, as they exist today, will be transferred to the CRI Installation and the Cleaning and Maintenance Subcommittees. Since these subcommittees already have charters in this area of responsibility, it is redundant to continue with the existing Seal of Approval Board. Without sacrificing the background knowledge and expertise of the existing Board members, CRI solicits the existing Board members to serve on the expanded subcommittees.

The subcommittees will review the components of the program, help with planning, periodically re-evaluate the testing, and expand the program's outreach. Jackkie Veldhuis, CRI technical assistant, will act as liaison with Dalton State College staff to assist with continuation of all the program elements. Louise Dobbs, CRI technical advocacy manager, will work with each of the committees, coordinating their input to assure the program's future success.
