Floor Covering Weekly GreenStep Awards AnnouncedFlooring trade publication Floor Covering News announced winners of their first-ever GreenStep awards September 15 at a luncheon held at Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center in Dalton. Five companies and one person were recognized for their environmental efforts within the flooring industry. A total of eight awards were given - twice the number originally planned by the magazine - but a reflection of what FCW Publisher Sandy Montero called the flooring industry's "leadership role" in sustainability. In all, 75 nominations for the awards were received by the magazine - enough to justify adding a series of Environmental Leadership Awards. Winners in the four categories - Product, Process, Promotion and Pinnacle (a person or company that went beyond professional duty) - were selected by a panel of judges picked by the magazine that included CRI Vice-President Frank Hurd.
