CRI Announces Enhanced Service Provider Program for Seal of Approval

CRI Seal of Approval Service ProviderCRI used the May 13-16 Connections meeting in Clearwater, Florida to announce significant changes to the Seal of Approval Service Provider program. CRI president Werner Braun outlined specific enhancements to the SOA Service Provider agreement, including a new code of conduct, and, for the first time, language "strongly recommending" that SOA Service Providers receive certification from the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC).

"Carpet is comfortable and beautiful. But we know that consumers have questions about how to care for carpet over time. Choosing the wrong service provider can be a disaster, since a bad choice may result in poor carpet cleaning results or even damage to carpet fibers," said Werner Braun, CRI president.

The Seal of Approval program is celebrating its fifth year anniversary in 2009 and has grown to more than 186 participating manufacturers with 471 products certified and nearly 700 service providers.

CRI Blog Begins Operation

April 20th marked the first official day for the CRI Blog, a new and exciting development designed to increase visibility for CRI and promote conversation about the benefits of carpet. To help build and supervise the blog, CRI has enlisted the services of partnered with Christine Whittemore, consultant and chief simplifier at Simple Marketing Now, LLC. Whittemore is the former director of in-store innovation for Solutia's Wear-Dated fibers, and the creative energy behind the brand's successful Flooring the Consumer blog.

"With close to 50% of the US Internet population reading blogs for relevant information, CRI can only benefit from launching its own self-publishing communications platform," said Whittemore.

Through links and related posts, The Carpet and Rug Institute Blog will allow CRI to showcase information from the extensive scientific, environmental, and consumer research it has conducted on behalf of the carpet industry. The blog also creates a platform to discuss topics of consumer interest, and an opportunity to dispel the stubborn myths associated with carpet.

CRI's primary bloggers are market issues director James Beach and communications manager Bethany Richmond.

"The Carpet and Rug Institute Blog allows the CRI to become actively involved in the conversations already taking place about carpet, and be visible with correct information the minute someone types 'carpet' into a search window," said Beach.
