New Seal of Approval Solution Products Certified

CRI Seal of ApprovalThree more solutions have been added to CRI's Seal of Approval to a new total of 251 certified cleaning solutions.

Sunshine Makers, Inc., of Huntington Harbor, New Jersey, has received SOA certification for their Simple Green Carpet Spotter and Spot Remover. This latest addition brings Sunshine Makers to a total of three Seal of Approval products, including two Simple Green brand products designated at SOA Green.

Mohawk Industries of Calhoun, Georgia has gained approval for their Mohawk Floorcare Traffic Lane Prespray by GFCS. The newly approved product adds to Mohawk's growing list of SOA solutions, including SOA Green certified Mohawk Floorcare Essentials Carpet Spot Remover and Mohawk Floorcare Essentials Pet Odor and Stain Pre-treatment.

Jon-Don, of Roselle, Illinois had added their Matrix Aviation Blended Carpet Prespray to the list of Seal of Approval solutions.

Clarification: Shaw's new R2X Green Formula Carpet and Rug Stain Remover mentioned in the last Newsline for achieving SOA Green status is a new formula that complements Shaw's SOA certified solutions, R2X Area Rug Spot Remover, R2X Stain and Soil Remover, and R2Xtra Encapsulation Cleaner.

Congratulations to all the new Seal of Approval certified products!

The SOA designation certifies that the product has passed a series of stringent tests performed by an independent laboratory. The tests for spot removers, pre- sprays and in-tank solutions include protocols for efficacy (removing stains), resoiling (whether the product attracts soil at an accelerated rate), pH (excessively acid or alkaline products can affect dyes and fibers), optical brighteners (can adversely affect color, appearance and performance) and colorfastness to light (residues on pile yarn can accelerate color change).

Green Label Programs Pass ANSI Audit

CRI Green Label PlusOne year after The Carpet and Rug Institute earned accreditation as a product certifying body from the prestigious American National Standards Institute, CRI has successfully passed the first annual ANSI Surveillance Audit of their widely respected Green Label® and Green Label Plus® Indoor Air Quality certification programs. According to ANSI documents, auditors found CRI to be in strict adherence to the Green Label programs' policy and procedural standards.

The first environmental product certification program to be recognized by ANSI, Green Label and Green Label Plus certifications identify products that have been tested against the most stringent national and international indoor air quality standards.

The past year has seen rapid expansion of CRI's Green Label programs. Current participants include 32 U.S manufacturers, 12 Chinese firms, and a total of 17 entities from Canada, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Thailand, Australia, and United Arab Emirates. Recently, CRI received its first South American application for Green Label Plus accreditation from a Brazilian manufacturer.

CRI president Werner Braun said CRI plans to expand ANSI certification to its Green Label adhesives and cushion programs, and eventually include all CRI signature programs.

The audit was conducted at CRI's Dalton, Georgia headquarters and Air Quality Sciences' Atlanta facility. Richard Stump of Consultants in Quality Inc. from Iowa City, Iowa conducted the audit for ANSI.
