Four New Solutions Join SOA Family
Hollytex Spot Remover and Crystal Spotter are the two new spot removers and join Stay Clean Antisoil and Bonitz presprays as cleaning solutions that are rated among the best on the market. Hollytex Spot remover is manufactured by Beaulieu of America, which is headquartered in Dalton, GA., while Crystal Spotter is manufactured by RE Whittaker Company in New Castle, PA. Stay Clean Antisoil is made by The Bullen Companies, Inc., headquartered in Folcroft, PA, and Bonitz is made by the Bonitz Flooring Group out of Greenville, SC. Each product passed a series of stringent tests performed by an independent laboratory in order to make the list of cleaning solutions. The tests for spot removers, pre-sprays and in-tank solutions include protocols for efficacy (removing stains), resoiling (whether the product attracts soil at an accelerated rate), pH (excessively acid or alkaline products can affect dyes and fibers), optical brighteners (can adversely affect color, appearance and performance) and colorfastness to light (residues on pile yarn can accelerate color change). To date there are now 71 cleaning solutions which have earned SOA designation. Contact Carroll Turner at 706.428-2106. Mighty Pack and Mighty Pro Systems, each manufactured by Rug Doctor out of Fenton, MO., can now assure customers that their system removes stains and soil from carpet without damaging the carpet pile or causing resoiling problems. The meeting also broached the subject of a new testing program for household extractors that would be tied to neither the current SOA nor Green Label Programs, but would not be unveiled until sometime in late 2007. Under the systems testing, an independent laboratory tests the extractor on carpet samples using the manufacturer specifications and procedures. The cleaning solution is also tested and both products have to meet a high standard. Both of Rug Doctor's systems earned Gold level certification, assuring they remove the highest level of measurable soil removal. The Program Tests for Soil removal efficacy, Resoiling, Residual moisture, Texture Appearance change, Colorfastness, pH and Optical brighteners. Contact Carroll Turner at 706.428-2106. CRI Meets With Wal-Mart BuyersCRI and Professional Testing Laboratory recently met with some of the buyers of small appliance and cleaning products for Wal-Mart to discuss incorporating CRI's independent third-party verification testing programs on vacuum cleaners and cleaning solutions into Wal-Mart's buying habits. Wal-Mart is looking for a way to assure its customers that the products it sells are performance rated as a way to help the consumer choose the best product for their particular need. CRI's Green Label Vacuum Cleaner Program was recently moved into the Seal of Approval Program and could fit nicely into the third- party certification Wal-Mart is seeking for such products. Discussions are ongoing about incorporating the program into the way Wal-mart makes its purchases from manufacturers. Contact Frank Hurd at 706.428-2136.
