In This Issue: SOA Cleaning Solutions Family Continues Growth
The tests for spot removers, pre-sprays and in-tank solutions include protocols for efficacy (removing stains), resoiling (whether the product attracts soil at an accelerated rate), pH (excessively acid or alkaline products can affect dyes and fibers), optical brighteners (can adversely affect color, appearance and performance) and colorfastness to light (residues on pile yarn can accelerate color change). To date there are nearly 60 cleaning solutions which have earned SOA designation as being among the best cleaners on the market. Contact James Beach at 706.428-2116. Three Extractors Earn SOA Designation
The Nilfisk-Advance AquaClean 18FLX and the AquaRide XP each passed the necessary tests to earn bronze certification as did Kent-Euroclean's Klenzor 18MPH machine. Extractors that exceed average soil removal standards receive a bronze rating. Those achieving higher soil removal receive a silver rating, and those receiving the highest level of measurable soil removal are awarded a gold level SOA. Contact James Beach at 706.428-2116. Time to Become a CHPS MemberCalifornia's Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) has opened its membership up to companies and trade associations. CRI is a member and actively participates on the CHPS technical committee. With the CA Governor's Green Building Executive Order unfolding, resulting in the State Architect endorsing CHPS as a recommended design standard, many more school districts statewide are referring to CHPS Design Guidelines. (Not to mention that 15 Districts in CA have made CHPS a mandatory design standard and states outside of CA have licensed CHPS!) In addition, as the new version of the Best Practices Manual is published, newfound interest in CHPS is escalating. If your company has an interest in schools market then you may want to explore being a CHPS Member. Contact Frank Hurd at 706.428-2136. Global Leaders Form Intellectual Property Rights StrategyEuropean and American leaders met recently in Vienna at the annual EU-U.S. Summit. Hosted by the Austrian presidency of the European Union, the gathering tackled a wide array of bilateral and global issues. European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, U.S. President George W. Bush, and other leaders discussed Iran, the Middle East, combating terrorism, and democracy promotion. They also considered a possible extension of the U.S. visa waiver program and how Europe and the United States can cooperate on energy security, climate change and sustainable development. One of the most notable results of the Summit was the launching of the joint Action Strategy for the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights against piracy and counterfeiting.
