CRI Joins Prestigious U.S. Green Building CouncilCRI recently was welcomed into the membership of the prestigious U.S. Green Building Council, joining a truly unique coalition of the building industry that is sustained by the leadership and commitment of its members. It is an honor and a privilege to be part of a group dedicated to the green building program and one from which CRI members can benefit. CRI has long been involved in the USGBC as an outsider sharing many of the same goals, and welcomes the opportunity to work with the group as a new member to strengthen both of our positions. CRI Critical Audience Survey BeginsAs part of CRI's plan to establish a baseline to measure effectiveness in lowering barriers to profitability and growth, CRI is measuring initial perceptions in several critical audiences. These audiences include: asthma and allergy physicians; school facilities managers; architects; designers; etc. The telephone survey began Friday, February 14, 2003, and should be completed within four weeks. The survey will be conducted again in 12 months to measure how much perception has shifted. Contact Steve Phillips at 706.428.2115. Canadian Carpet Institute Success StoryIn an effort to bring common sense to Canadian public policy, the Canadian Carpet Institute joined the “Healthy Indoors Partnership” (HIP) as a Founding and Primary funding partner. The effort is beginning to pay off. Two CRI documents (“Myths” and the Swedish study) were posted on the HIP website some time ago with a request for input and comments from the 100+ HIP partners. No negative comments were received. CCI has been successful in influencing public policy. Green Label carpet can now be used in unlimited quantities in the super-tight R-2000 homes. They are being consulted before certain documents (e.g. Health Canada version of Tools for Schools) are published. CCI will continue their “inside the tent” activities in the coming year.
