2001 Sustainability Report on Web

A printable web version of the 2001 Sustainability Report has been posted on the CRI website. CRI members continue to find new and innovative ways to be environmentally responsible and the Sustainability Report is a vehicle for telling our “good news” story. This year’s document includes many of the same elements from the initial Sustainability Report of 2000. The 21-page document includes updated numbers as well as additional graphics and sections, including updated information on partnerships and new information on CARE. The Sustainability Report will continue to be a work in progress as the Issues Communication staff works with CRI members to evaluate better ways to gather and disseminate this vital information in preparation for next year’s Sustainability Report. For more information or if you have suggestions, please contact James Beach at 706.428.2116.

Texas to Tackle Mold Issue Next Year

Texas officials will tackle mold next year with focus on remediators and building materials according to a report from state lawmaker Kyle Janek in the Fort Bend Southwest Sun. Janek told the newspaper that mold is high on the state legislature’s agenda and that lawmakers need to look at the mold issue from the perspective of remediators and building materials and not from the perspective of regulating insurance. Representative Janek is the only practicing physician in the Texas Legislature. He has focused on health care issues. Other areas of interest include regulation of Texas businesses, juvenile crime and tax reform. Contact Barrier Management Champion Louise Dobbs at 706.428.2104 or Steve Phillips at 706.428.2115.

CRI Attends Resource Seminar

Jennifer Mendez of CRI recently attended a Resource Seminar in Charleston, South Carolina. The seminar was hosted by DuPont™ Antron® and Mannington Commercial. The attendees, members of the design community, architects, and facilities managers, had the opportunity to visit the DuPont™ Plant in Camden, South Carolina, where they were able to view fiber production. Many of the seminar presenters included information about CRI’s Green Label programs as well as the newest CRI initiative, the Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE). CRI Invited to Make Presentation Regarding IAQ

CRI’s Jennifer Mendez is in Columbus, Ohio, this week to make a presentation on Carpet and Indoor Air Quality to attendees at a workshop hosted by Mannington Commercial and DuPont Fibers. The workshop, entitled “Trends & Truths,” will be attended by facilities managers and designers. Ohio is one of the states where CRI has seen carpet de-selection, not insignificant in a state that currently is spending two million dollars a day on schools.
